Apparently the robot is going from orbit to do a Grand solar power to supply the space station.
If the US manages to work out this technology, then in this direction the whole world and all the space powers will be far behind. Robotic production in orbit in the future will be able not only to collect solar panels of a large area, but also to build ships, so at least consider in the highest echelons of management of the prestigious organization in the space plan - NASA. NASA assured also that if this technology will work successfully, the USA will appear in leaders on Lunar and Martian race. Robots can build anything, even on the moon, and even on Mars.
To implement such a project is not so easy, the company Made In Space has been dealing with this topic for many years, the robot Archinaut is built under a contract with NASA. The first phase of the contract with NASA at Made In Space came to an end, but it`s just the end of the first phase. Now the second part of the joint project "Technologies of turning points"starts.
The orbital robot will have robot hands and a 3D printer. Since this will be the ship in space, the range of tasks will be much wider. You and satellites to fix and that is to collect in orbit. NASA plans to use such a robot in the future for the construction of a grandiose telescope.
On earth, the robot has managed to Excel for the better. Two years ago, the 3D printer has successfully stamped in a vacuum 3D structure.
