Scientists believe that humanity can abandon the use of fossil fuels in 10 years
The idea of humanity to abandon fossil fuels, rather not new as you think. Researchers from the University of Sussex argue that our civilization could well do without oil and coal after ten years, the study is based on the historical evidence, which, as a rule, were ignored. Professor Benjamin Sovacool notes that in fact the ruling elite had created a dependence on oil and gas, if not initially stimulated the consumption of hydrocarbons, we have at least 10 years would live in terms of green energy. In the canadian province of Ontario, for example, 11 years ago, decided to abandon coal as an energy source, while in France, nuclear energy is already 40% of the total energy potential of the country – seemingly a lot, but it`s only for 12 years of active development.
The need to abandon the hydrocarbons and move to renewable energy is dictated by the fact that the industry is developing, the environment is polluted and if time does not take action, then you can be on blue planet Earth in the future, and the gray dump of technological progress.
Scientists recognize that such changes are happening too slowly, if you leave this direction to develop independently – for example, decades passed before electricity was adopted EN masse. However, Professor Sovacool believes, and confirms the widespread opinion that such changes should occur gradually, and it`s the right path of development. According to him, these changes need to focus joint efforts in all industries.
Of course, such efforts on the part of mankind is quite another task. Electric cars and green energy sources are gaining momentum, but there is huge resistance from the industry which consumes a hydrocarbon fuel, which is not only a lot of money, but also a powerful political lobby that is defending her.
This impedes the adoption of rules that will speed up the process of entering the green energy sources and electric vehicles, and accordingly – the refusal of the hydrocarbon fuel. Many developing countries cannot afford investment in green energy sources and have no alternative to oil, just a vicious circle!
